The Campaign

Campaign Title
MAMA CARE RWANDA
Campaign Summary
MAMA CARE RWANDA is built on the message that early breast-cancer detection supports mothers, families, and communities. Recognizing that fear and reliance on traditional healers can contribute to late diagnosis, the team designed a continuous, community-driven approach. The campaign uses Community Health Worker home visits, village education sessions, local radio, and SMS reminders to provide guidance and referral support. It includes husbands and church leaders in awareness meetings to reduce family resistance and replace misinformation with trust.
Public-Health Challenge
Late-stage breast-cancer detection and high mortality are driven by low awareness, fear of diagnosis, misinformation, and reliance on traditional healers.
Systems Insight
The campaign seeks to interrupt rumor and fear cycles through trusted Community Health Workers and church leaders while managing clinic flow to avoid overcrowding and loss of trust.
Audience & Community Context
Women ages 25–55 in rural and low-income communities, alongside families, husbands, and church leaders. The context includes transport costs, limited digital access, and the importance of family support.
