The Campaign

Campaign Title
Tubungabunge Ubuzima
Campaign Summary
Tubungabunge Ubuzima, or ‘Let’s Protect Health,’ applies Systems Judo by integrating breast-health awareness, checklists, and referral support into Rwanda’s existing Umuganda community-service routine. By equipping Community Health Workers with screening checklists and referral vouchers during regular community gatherings, the team aims to reduce the need for separate mobilization and normalize early detection as a sustained civic practice.
Public-Health Challenge
The boom-and-bust cycle of temporary awareness can be reinforced by transport costs and clinic-overcrowding barriers.
Systems Insight
The team uses existing community infrastructure as a leverage point to make early detection a more sustained civic practice rather than a standalone medical event.
Audience & Community Context
Women in rural communities, families, husbands, Community Health Workers, and community leaders. The strategy works through existing local community routines and leadership structures.
Campaign Status
In development — resumes when the cohort returns from school break.
Interdisciplinary Roster
Six disciplines, one team.
