Phase 5 · Campaign Expansion & Refinement (Week 16)
The Campaign

Campaign Title
The Umuganda Grandmother Network
Campaign Summary
This campaign applies Systems Judo by working through existing cultural authority, village elders, and Umuganda gatherings to share breast-health information without creating a separate mobilization structure. It uses Grandmother Champions — respected female figures — who issue coded referral cards that can be logged at clinics, creating a traceable connection between informal conversation and clinical follow-through. To address patriarchal resistance, the campaign is also framed as a Family Evening initiative that engages male family members in maternal health.
Public-Health Challenge
The primary challenges are low trust in formal health information and seasonal economic barriers that can prevent people from taking action.
Systems Insight
The team applies Systems Judo through existing authority structures and Umuganda gatherings. Coded referral cards connect trusted informal conversations to a visible clinical follow-through pathway.
Audience & Community Context
Targeting rural households, the campaign uses respected female community figures and a Family Evening approach to encourage support from male family members.
